I had a short little chat with Darren from ProBlogger and thought his comment on these blog traffic generators was worthy of posting. I had a gut feeling that something wasn’t quite right with sites like Blog Clicker and Blog Soldiers. After reading his comment I think it isn’t worth the risk of getting banned from your advertising provider.
I think most people that use these sites don’t care what blog they are looking at. They only want to get traffic for their blog. They are in a mindset to surf a new blog every 20 seconds to earn more credits. Unless you can really grab their attention, chances are they will move along after they surf your blog. On the other hand, you might try using this method before you place any ads on your blog.
When you first launch, try this tactic out to get some first time visitors to your blog. You should have them surfing to a post that is really attention getting or perhaps really funny if you want them to bookmark you. You might even want to put a link up telling people to bookmark this blog.
Anyway, here are Darren’s comments below:
“be a bit careful with products like this.
The problem with them is that some (many) advertising programs do not let you use traffic generation programs like these and have been known to ban publishers from running their ads if they do.
I know of some Chitika publishers who have been kicked out of using their ads for similar programs.
Nice blog topic - keep up the good work but remember… there’s no such thing as easy blog traffic - programs like these have consequences and if you want to build long term quality traffic then long term quality writing of content is going to be your best bet.”
