$50/Day by July 1st, 2006
It looks like problogger.net has started another group writing project, this time it is on Blog Goals. I’m happy to say that I do have several blogging goals and will share them with you along with any helpful tips as well.
My main goal that I wish to reach is to make $50/day by July 1st, 2006. That leaves me only 25 days to figure out a fairly permanent way to get traffic to my blogs - without the overhead of advertising. In a day or two I’m going to spend all day trying to get links to one of my blogs - and do everything I can think of to get legitimate traffic. The main question still remains… how to get people to keep coming back?
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have written an affirmation that I read once in the morning and at night before I go to bed. The point is to visualize my objective and allow my subconcious to come up with solutions. For me, the main objective is to make money blogging. I don’t quite understand people out there that blog just for fun - unless perhaps they already have a cush job and are already making a decent living.
My main goal is to make money, and my secondary goal is to do it by blogging on topics that I enjoy. I am focusing on my daily affirmation and to me, it doesn’t really matter HOW I get there. As long as I do get there, I will be happy.
And now…why don’t I just share the affirmation that I read day and night with you. Wow..this will probably make me look like some kind of kook… oh well!
I WILL BE EARNING $50/DAY BY JULY 1, 2006
I will be making at least $1,500 per month, or $50 per day by July 1st, 2006. In return for this money, I will provide high quality content on the Internet and earn this money with Google Adsense, Blogads and other advertising and affiliate programs.
I will find and create quality content that will attract a massive amount of Internet traffic and turn that traffic into valuable clicks. I will primarily focus on markets that can deliver high click through rates and pay high amounts per click.
I will optimize my existing web sites to achieve maximum clicks for the current traffic I am receiving.
I will market my blogs and web sites on a continuous basis always looking for a way to promote them and keep their momentum going. I will study other blogs that are already achieving the traffic I need and figure out how they got there. I will figure out how to get traffic and keep the traffic.
I will study blogging and other forms of internet marketing to maximize my knowledge in this area to give myself the best possible chance of success by learning tips and techniques from others who have already made it.
I will write detailed goals for all of my blogs and web sites, work on them daily and do everything else I possibly can to achieve this goal of $50/day or $1,500 a month by July 1st, 2006.
Finally, I will do all of this with passion - I will find and pick topics that I am passionate about to maximize my enthusiasm, motivation and make the journey fun and exciting at the same time.

Though I wish you luck on reaching your goals, I think the bloggers that are already making $50/day will have the longevity factor in common. Meaning, they didn’t get there in just a couple months. I don’t know how much you’re already currently making, and maybe that’s not something you want to share. I hope you’re setting yourself a realistic goal. (As seen in my problogger post: Keeping Realistic and Adaptable Blogging Goals.) I, personally, get frustrated when setting goals too far out of reach. I’ll be interested in seeing how you do though, and stop by occasionally to find out.

Thanks for your comments, Rob. It is quite an ambitious goal and I wish I could disclose my first month of income, but I know all too well what that could bring….er um… competition. I may not make it, but..you never know. I’m kind of a believer in the whole “If you don’t think you can do it, you won’t”
philosophy…or we become what we think about.
If you really can convince yourself you can do something like this in your mind, at the very least you’ll have much better odds at attracting the circumstances, ideas and whatever else may be necessary to make your goal.
To be continued…

You said $50/month at the top, and then later said $50/day. I assume you meant $50/day.
Good luck

Ooops! I meant $50/day… I fixed it. Thanks Dave for pointing that out.

Wish you success!

Well i think one way or the other you are going to make it.

Good luck !

I’d say $50/day is realistic if you are persistant and stick with it. You need to consider traffic patterns also. So $50/day does not necessarily equate to $1500/month.

You have a highly ambititous target and I wish you luck. Your blog is useful to new bloggers and I would advice that you publish more frequently if you really want to achieve this goal within such a short time.

I’m one of those who “blogs just for fun.” At least, it started that way. Now I’m starting to earn money blogging. If you do what you love, the money will come.

I presume that you are already making something not far off from that amount, as otherwise it sounds horribly ambitious to go from nothing to that in a month. I think if you can get traffic that is truly interested in your content and get the optimum positioning on your ads, the money will follow. I’m trying to say, and might not be saying this clearly, that I think you should focus on the traffic and ad positioning rather than just the money, as the money is just something that comes from other factors, kwim??
BTW, I’d put ads in or closer to your content rather than that horrible flashing thing at the very top of the page, you couldn’t pay ME to click that or even try to read near it ;).

I believe in you, man. I’m not saying that to be cheesy. But the way I see it is that there are billions of dollars being made on the Internet, Billions of traffic swirling all over the place and billions of people all over the world being influenced by content on the net. Its all happening right now. All we have to do is get in the way of .000001 of those dollars and traffic and we (as individuals) will be successful.
(if it is .000001 of $1,000,000,000 its $1000… right) I don’t know you get the idea. So many still underestimate the power of the Net.

OT Question!
How do you get the share icons on the bottom of your post?
I’m looking for the plugin but I don’t know the name…
Thank you!

Lisa,
Although I’ve been blogging in a slacking kind of way for about a year, this month would actually be my second month of putting a serious effort into it. It is probably over ambitious and maybe I’ll live to regret this post. But…I will try not to think of such thoughts and give it a try anyway.
As for this blog, it attracts bloggers which already know all of the ins and outs of blogging and “tricks” of blending ads, etc. Bloggers for the most part don’t click… so this blog isn’t what I plan on making money on. I’d stay away from any subject that might attract savvy internet users. What you want is a blog that attracts stupid people.
As far as the ugly red banner, I took it down, but then a few days later got two referral sales for a total of about $100, so…I’m keepin’ it up.
Anyway thanks to you and everyone else who has commented…and good luck to all!

I’m sure you’ll make $50 a day. I would be happy just to make $10 a day on my blog.
June 9th, 2006 at 4:29 am
Great goal to start with. I would also like to get there, but have set a longer timeframe. forst I would like to see about 100 visitors a day by the end of this month.
June 9th, 2006 at 3:56 pm
i wish you luck with your aim to get $50 a day
June 10th, 2006 at 8:15 pm
50 dollars per day is easy! I’ve been doing it for years. We’ll see in the club by 1st of July.
June 19th, 2006 at 12:45 pm
Hope this is going well. Can’t wait to hear about it on July 1st.

I just found your blog today and it’s very inspiring (not to mention, informative!). I just started blogging myself about a niche that I think blogging has left way open.
I just want to let you know that I have a similar goal to yours (except pushed back a month) and that it was kid of crazy to see someone else that had (nearly) the same goal as me.
If you ever get the time, check out http://www.iregrewmyhair.com
Thanks for the great info!
